Day 36: Love is God's Word

Today's Dare: Commit to reading the Bible every day. Find a devotional book or other resource that will give you some guidance. If your spouse is open to it, see if they will commit to reading the Bible with you. Begin submitting each area of your life to its guidance and start building on the rock.

God's Word says: Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
Prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers. James 1:22
Whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction. Romans 15:4

  1. Just to be real honest ... I have a real hard time committing to something I know I wont do! And it is really hard for me because I would love to be at that place again where I spend time in the word everyday. I dont feel like I have the freedom to do that right now, I am consumed by my kiddos and it is okay. I require 8 hours of sleep a night so for me to set my alarm clock for 6am is not okay, I will be a mad women by 3 o'clock. Plus if we are up in the house moving around the kids get up. I am okay with the time I spend with God right now because I know this is just a season and it will change and I will be able to spend the quality time with him I need when I am out of this season of my life. I probably open my bible 1-2 times a week. But me and God do a lot of talking throughout the day! :)

  2. Stashia I understand that! It is hard at times to devot myself to the bible and not be innterupted by kids. Praying IS spending time with God and if your doing that your doing better than most. So don't stress, the Lord KNOWS your heart.

Funny thing that this dare would come closer to the end. Reason being is that I was at Mardel last week and purchased Beth Moore's new book "So Long Insecurity you've been a bad friend" and while looking around I found that there is a "Love Dare" book for COUPLES!
I wanted to purchase it but didn't. No good reason not to go back and pick it up now after seeing our dare.
Maybe once I purchase it I can post the first dare it has in it and you can decide for yourself if you would be interested in doing it.
(It's a devotional for 365 days- and I believe the dare that is given is to apply thru out the WHOLE week.)

  3. By the way I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Beth Moore's new book!!!
Yes, the title of the book may sound scary (or something you may think you don't need to read) but you WILL NOT be discouraged! If so I will BUY it back from you. I promise! Love you all.

  4. I've been in a place where waking up early to read/pray just a little is the only way I can get through the day AND I've been in the other place where I haven't prioritized my mornings as well. For me and my family, I've learned that me getting up early to read/pray is the only thing that makes the day work. I've been lazy about doing it the past couple of weeks and I see the changes at home-they are not how I want to live. I have to commit to daily time right now for me and my family.

  5. Stashia and Michelle...it is so hard to get up and set aside time to pray. I did much better with it before Inara was born b/c Gage wakes up at the same time each day. But for the past couple of months, I've had to settle for just some time during the day, normally at nap time. i'm with dave on this one...i NEED to read otherwise my day does not go well at all. i've been reading only one chapter a day for the past year...and just in the past month, i've changed it up to 2 chapters a day. it literally only takes about 5-10 minutes...i am NOT a morning person, so i'm okay with not getting up early to read...
