(posting early) Day 7: Love believes the best

Today's Dare: (LOVE THIS!) Get two sheets of paper. On the first one, spend a few minutes writing out positive things about your spouse. Then do the same with negative things on the second sheet. Place both sheets in a secret place for another day. There is a different purpose and plan for each. At some point during the remainder of the day, pick a positive attribute from the first list and thank your spouse for having this characteristic.

God's Word says: (Love) believes all things, hopes all things. I Corinthians 13:7
If there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

  1. This was easy for me to do since I was at the retreat on Saturday! When I got home today Chad told me everything he and the kids did, wow he was super dad this weekend!! Starting with making lunch and dinner for the kiddos on Saturday (not just going to get fast food), when I called to check on them they were all outside playing in the back yard, and he washed Cru's hair. On Sunday he made b-fast and they made it to church. And he did 2 loads of laundry AND he had to fix our kitchen sink on Saturday!!!
It was very easy to give him lots of praise and thank him for being such a good daddy and hubby!
One thing I did realize is that I may think positive things about him but I dont always tell him. I need to tell him every time because his love language is words of affirmation. So this dare was a good lesson for me!

  2. This was easy as well for me! When I returned home from the retreat i walked into a CLEAN laundry off the couch home!!!!! Woohoo! I gave Ben praise for folding laundry and cleaning the house while I was away.

As far as which was easier of the two list to write out for him the one that had more comment was the POSITIVE list! I was totally surprised. I thought I was going to have a lot more negative things but I didn't. :)

  3. Michelle, I totally agree. When I started this, I was thinking my neg. list would be long and the positive list would be short, but I was wrong! Praises to God!! I'm so thankful I can see the positive, amazing gifts (and challenges) that make up Richard J. Mason. I'm learning so much about him and us as this challenge goes on. I'm also learning so much about how I need to always give things to God as they happen and not dwell on them in thought, spoken words or actions.
