Today's Dare: In addition to saying nothing negative to your spouse again today, do at least one unexpected gesture as an act of kindness.
God's Word says: Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26

I added the second verse b/c its in the reading of Dare 2 and it seems so appropriate for us as moms. It really spoke to me this morning and has stayed with me. Good Luck today!
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions on what I can do? Chris won't be home until 9 or 10pm because of a business dinner. I did just send him a sweet email. He almost always sends me a "How is your day?" txt or email. So, I was first today. Although it is something, I would like to do something else for him. :)
ReplyDeletePS - Last night was a good night after I got home from my mentor/mentee meeting. :)
I'm not sure what I'm going to do either, Tara. I made his lunch this morning...but I do that most mornings, so it isn't anything "special". Hmmm....maybe I need to ask God to reveal to me what to do...
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go through Richard's side of the closet and do a "spring cleaning". He mentioned it needs it and I think I'm up for that this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I am going to reformat Chris's resume into one page. We realized we lost it when our computer died last summer. Chris said the other day that it needed to get updated and "fixed". I can't do the what because I don't know what all he does, but I'm going to do what I can. :)
ReplyDeleteYou ladies are so great and I love your ideas. I thought I might give Michael a foot or back rub later after the kids are in bed but he mentioned a computer project last night so I will try to get that done. Yesterday was good for me.
ReplyDeleteokay, so I sent Chad a sweet email and we are going to Jason's Deli for dinner and I have looked at the menu and already know what I am going to order for myself and the kids. This is HUGE for me, it usually takes me forever to order and it beats him down! He will be sooooooo surprised!
ReplyDeleteAND I am ready for tomorrow. I framed a pic of the 2 of us and wrote a sweet card. I am going to put it in his car tonight so he will see it on the way to work. He just started a new job and has nothing on his desk! :)
THIS IS FUN!!!
ok, mine seems kinda lame compared to ya'lls GREAT ideas! daniel called to let me know he'd be home for an hour or so this afternoon. so i set up his XBOX, controller, and remote all next to the recliner and had the game powered up and ready to go. and a little love note. he has a new game that he's been dying to play but hasn't gotten around to it b/c he doesn't play when the kids are awake and feels guilty for taking time away from me. so this "allowed" him to play without the guilt. :) he smiled and came over to give me a big kiss...so i'm thinking he liked it. :)
ReplyDeletei don't have my book yet...i've just been reading online, but I have a friend who is mailing me the book. hopefully i'll have it tomorrow or the next day. so i have no clue what tomorrow's dare is. but i love what you did stashia!! so sweet!
Stashia and Alicia, I love it!!! Y'all are awesome!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all of the praises we're going to have because of this! You ladies are fabulous! :)God is so good!!! :)
Today was great! I did repurpose Richard's area in the closet and he said "thanks". I'm just going to take that as a WIN!
ReplyDeleteStashia-good for you girl! Keep it up!
All of you ladies are awesome and such an encouragement to me!!
I feel like I lost a little tonight. I did the computer project he had mentioned but when I offered to rub his back or feet he trumped me. I had a long run tonight so he said no and wanted to rub my legs (my legs usually ache at night). I told him that I didn't offer so he would offer to rub mine. He said he knew that and still denied a rub from me but I still let him rub my legs. Am I an awful wife? I tried a couple times but he said no each time. Hopefully I will have more success tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are doing great Bec AND you have a selfless husband too!
ReplyDeleteA few nuggets I pulled from the reading were: Kindness creates a blessing (should be a new t-shirt or sign for your wall) and kindness is truly four parts: gentleness, helpfulness, willingness and initiative. I haven't ever thought of kindness beyond just "kindness". I wonder if I am all those things? I know I need to work on initiative and gentleness. My tenderness seems to have faded with the addition of small children, but with God's help I know I can be SO TENDER!!
Hey,what happened? I posted last night and it's gone? Oh well.
ReplyDeleterepost Michelle-I want to know what you have to say about Day 2.
ReplyDeleteI love reading these posts! You girls are sooo creative! After I put Jillian to bed last night I picked up the house, vacuumed and washed the dishes all while he laid in bed. Eric was so thankful. He thanked me last night and again this morning!
ReplyDeleteI would repost what I wrote last night but I did not write it down :( However,I did mention that my random act of kindness was bathing the kids. Ben normally baths them (that's "His Time" that he has taken on on his own and enjoys doing it) so I figured I would do it and let him rest after a long day ;)
ReplyDeleteI also mentioned (before reading day 3) I have done Love Dare before but FAILED day 3 by not even reading or doing the dare) Any who, I mentioned how convicted I had been feeling. I am SO SELFISH! I thought maybe a little bit but now I SEE!
I can't believe how ungrateful I am for Ben and ALL that he does for me and our family :(**** (crying)
I KNOW Christ is WORKING IN ME and guiding me and each one of you ladies along this journey! I/We CAN DO IT!!!!!
Hey gals, I was talking to my sister today about this and telling her how this agape love we are learning to give to our husbands is so OTHER WORLD b/c the only thing the world pushes on us 24/7 is me, me, me!!! Don't beat yourself up over it, just pray about it and thank God that He is opening yours, mine and everyone's eyes to what He wants for us, His BEST!!!
